Editorial policy
This policy explains the standards our articles are held to.
Our principles
- Accuracy first. We would rather publish later than publish wrong.
- Independence. Advertisers, sponsors and the companies we cover do not control or pre-approve our editorial content.
- Transparency. We say what we know, what we do not, and where information comes from.
- Clarity. We explain concepts in plain language and define technical terms.
Sources
- We rely on primary sources wherever possible: research papers, standards bodies, official documentation and direct statements.
- Every article lists its sources at the end, with links.
- We aim to check claims, numbers and quotations against the original source before publication, and we link the sources we used so you can check them too.
- Where experts disagree, we say so rather than presenting one view as settled.
- We do not copy or closely paraphrase other publishers’ work. Where we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we credit and link to it.
Types of articles
- Explainers teach a concept and are written to stay useful over time.
- News reports new developments and carries a clear publication date.
- Analysis offers interpretation and is labeled as such.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research, outlining or drafting. Each article carries a “How this article was made” note that says whether AI tools assisted, and names the human reviewer when the article has been reviewed. The editorial team is responsible for what we publish, and we correct mistakes openly (see our corrections policy). We do not use AI to invent quotes, sources, statistics or people.
Bylines and dates
Every article shows who is credited and when it was published. If we materially change an article, we show an Updated date.
Updates and corrections
Technology changes quickly, so we revise articles when facts change. Errors are corrected openly as set out in our corrections policy.
Conflicts of interest
Contributors are expected to disclose financial interests in companies they write about. Sponsored or affiliate content, if we ever publish it, is clearly labeled.
